SONY SELLS VAIO DIVISION, RESTRUCTURES TV BUSINESS
Sony sold its PC business, operated under the VAIO brand, to Japanese investment fund Japan Industrial Partners , the company announced Thursday. Sony will also spin off its TV business, which has been operating at a loss for the past couple of years, into a separate, wholly owned subsidiary by July. It’s been a roller-coaster ride for Komli Media so far, the Indian digital ad network that has raised around $97 million from investors including Peepul Capital, Norwest and Nexus Venture Partners. Within few weeks of raising its biggest funding of $30 million in October last year, Komli’s CEO, Prashant Mehta, quit the company, raising concerns about the startup’s future. Samsung has just launched the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Korean Galaxy S4 LTE-A units that are based on Snapdragon 800 chips.
